Want information regarding funding at Pacific Harbors Council?

Contact Mike Kiel at mike.kiel@scouting.org .

Each year, the Pacific Harbors Council spends over $2.4 million to provide programs to over 16,000 young people across our region. Yet, in order to keep Scouting affordable to as many families as possible, we only charge the nominal $15/year national fee to be a member of most of our programs. That money all goes to pay the national organization for what they do, none of it stays locally to pay that $2.4 million cost. That money is raised through direct donations, some United Way support, special events, camping and activity revenues, product sales and rental of our facilities.

Friends of ScoutingFriends of Scouting (FOS) - Direct gifts comprise the largest source of income for the Pacific Harbors Council. The moneys collected in our FOS campaign account for almost one quarter of the Council’s overall total income. The Family and LDS FOS drive  is a campaign wherein we ask the families of the youth who are participating in the Scouting program for a donation to support the functions of the local council.  The community drive is a campaign where businesses, civic organizations, and community leaders provide support for the local council. If you would like to make a donation to the Pacific Harbors Council Friends of Scouting program, you may do so through this link: Donate Now

United WayUnited Way - Area United Ways are contributors to the Pacific Harbors Council, Boy Scouts of America. However, United Way allocations (direct United Way support) are decreasing and in Thurston, Pierce, and King Counties either do not exist or are limited to Learning for Life programs. If you want to support the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs of the Pacific Harbors Council, you can help! Encourage parents in your Scout group and at your workplace to donor designate (donor directed giving) all or parts of their donations to the Pacific Harbors Council, Boy Scouts of America. Your donor designated gift will go to support the traditional Scouting programs that are no longer funded by the United Ways of Thurston, Pierce, and King Counties. Write in “Pacific Harbors Council, BSA” when asked to designate to a specific agency.
