Cub Scouting:
The Cub Scouts
program is a
year-round
family program
designed for
boys who are in
the first grade
through fifth
grade (or 7, 8,
9, and 10 years
of age). Cub
Scouts serves as
a great
introduction to
the world of the
Boy Scouts of
America. |
Boy Scouting:
The Boy Scouts
program is the
next level, and
is available to
boys who have
earned the Arrow
of Light Award
and are at least
10 years old or
have completed
the fifth grade
and are at least
10, or who are
11, but not yet
18 years old.
The program
achieves the Boy
Scouts of
America
objectives of
developing
character,
citizenship, and
personal
fitness. |

Venturing
Program:
PHC Venturing
Venturing is a
youth
development
program of the
Boy Scouts of
America for
young men and
women who are 14
(and have
completed the
eighth grade)
through 20 years
of age.
Venturing is
based on a
unique and
dynamic
relationship
between youth,
adult leaders,
and
organizations in
their
communities.
Local community
organizations
establish a
Venturing crew
by matching
their people and
program
resources to the
interests of
young people in
the community.
The result is a
program of
exciting and
meaningful
activities that
helps youth
pursue their
special
interests, grow,
develop
leadership
skills, and
become good
citizens |
Eagle Scouts:
The fact that a
boy is an Eagle
Scout has always
carried with it
a special
significance,
not only in the
Boy Scouting
world, but also
as he enters
higher
education,
business or
industry, and
community
service. The
Eagle Scout
award is a
performance-based
achievement
whose standards
have been well
maintained over
the years. Not
every boy who
joins a Boy
Scout troop
earns the Eagle
Scout rank; only
about 4 percent
of all Boy
Scouts do so.
This represents
more than 1
million Boy
Scouts who have
earned the rank
since 1911.
Nevertheless,
the goals of
Scouting—citizenship
training,
character
development, and
personal
fitness—remain
important for
all Scouts,
whether or not
they attain the
Eagle Scout
rank. |

Learning for
Life
Learning for
Life is designed
to support
schools and
other
youth-serving
organizations in
their efforts
toward preparing
youth to
successfully
handle the
complexities of
today's society
and to enhance
their
self-confidence,
motivation, and
self-worth.
Learning for
Life also helps
youth develop
social and life
skills, assists
in character
development, and
helps them
formulate
positive
personal values.
It prepares
youth to make
ethical
decisions that
will help them
achieve their
full potential.
Learning for
Life enhances
teacher capacity
and increases
youth learning! |
Exploring
Exploring is a
worksite-based
program. It is
part of Learning
for Life's
career education
program for
young men and
women who are 14
(and have
completed the
eighth grade)
through 20 years
old.
Exploring's
purpose is to
provide
experiences that
help young
people mature
and to prepare
them to become
responsible and
caring adults.
Explorers are
ready to
investigate the
meaning of
interdependence
in their
personal
relationships
and communities.
Exploring
programs are
based on five
areas of
emphasis:
career
opportunities,
life skills,
citizenship,
character
education, and
leadership
experience. |
