This summer, blast off to an unforgettable Cub Scout adventure at Camp Thunderbird! Get ready for a week of interstellar fun, cosmic discoveries, and stellar friendships among the stars.
At Camp Thunderbird, you’ll explore the “forest of constellations,” cool off in the “crater lake,” and master new “mission-critical skills” that will prepare you for any challenge. End each day with your fellow Scouts around the “cosmic campfire,” sharing stories under a blanket of stars.
It’s not just a camp—it’s a summer filled with fun, growth, and out-of-this-world experiences that will launch you into the adventure of a lifetime!
This summer camp is open to any registered Cub Scout who will be entering the 1st grade (Tiger) through 5th grade (Arrow of Light) in the Fall of 2025.
Pricing:
Cub Scout: $335
Adult: $135
Campership applications are open and can be applied for up to 50% of the youth’s camp fee.

Every Youth and Adult must have a completed and current Health and Medical Form Parts A, B1, and B2.
Part C, which includes a pre camp physical is recommended but not required as the 2025 Summer Camp sessions are less than 72 hours.
ALL health forms must be turned in at Check-in. No digital forms.
Please include a copy of your medical card (Front and back) or your Military ID (front only).

Check-in starts at 1:00 PM. Camp Staff will not be available before 1:00pm. Check-in as a unit with all attending adults and youth.
Scouts cannot be dropped off without appropriate unit adult leadership.
Leave all belongings in your vehicles. You only need your medical forms and medications for check in.
Check in will be finished at 2:00 PM to allow time for the adult meeting starting at 2:15 PM.
All vehicles must be backed-in to their parking spots. Vehicles will be parked in the main Camp Thunderbird parking lot while overflow and oversized vehicles will be parked in the Camp Akela parking lot across the street.
Only authorized service vehicles will be permitted past the gates,
Your unit will have scheduled campsite pack up times. Please do not let campsite pack up time make you late or miss camp events.
Your unit will stage their belongings at a designated location in the campsite. Your staff guide will approve your campsite is clean and your unit is ready to leave camp.
You may then proceed to the parking lot and meet a camp commissioner (or other available camp staff member) for your check-out packet. A great chance for a picture at our Thunderbird sign!
Your unit members may then load up their vehicles and safely leave camp.
All visitors MUST check-in and check-out at the camp office.
Any part-time adults must check-in at the camp office WITH the adult they are replacing who will check-out.
If a youth or adult need to leave camp for any reason, they must check-out at the camp office. Any adults picking up youth will be verified with the Authorized to Take Scouts To and From Events section of the Health and Medical Form. Please ensure you fill this out prior to camp.
The duty of supervision falls on the unit and the adults of that unit or the parents of the scout. If an adult is not registered with Scouting America, they can not provide supervision for any scout expect for their child or who they are a legal guardian of.
Every youth and adult must bring their complete uniform for flags and meals.
Some units have different expectations for uniform etiquette so please follow your home unit’s standards.
All clothing (including at the waterfront) must be appropriate. Any images or wording that do not align with the Scouting ideals are not appropriate. We recommend clothing that prioritizes fit and function over fashion.
Every participant must wear closed foot footwear. This means that any part of the foot inside the shoe should not be visible. We recommend watershoes/watersocks at the waterfront.

The Cub Scouts are sorted into their current ranks within the My.Scouting system. They can group up with other scouts of their same rank or if they have a friend in another rank, they may attend age appropriate activities with their friend if they prefer.
We focus on the elective adventures that may be hard for units to do such as Range and Target Activities, water activities, and knife skills. Core adventures (included Bobcat) are not covered.
Yes! On Saturday morning at 6:45 AM we will have a Polar Bear Plunge at the waterfront. Scouts and adults who have not taken the swim test may participate in this event.
We have a shower house that has private shower stalls near the campsites, strategically placed porta-potties around camp, a flush toilet in the Dale O building, and we will have a private toilet/shower trailer behind the Dale O building.
Mostly yes. Roads are gravel and trails are forest ground. Medical scooters and basic wheelchairs have worked well. We can provide transportation assistance if we are notified ahead of time.
On Thursday (check-in day) and Sunday (check-out day), we will not provide lunch.
Yes. Dietary info is pulled from registration and food is set aside as needed. Most dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice.
We try to keep a hot pot of coffee (and water for tea, cider, or hot chocolate) going throughout the day. Our trading post also stocks cold Starbucks Frappuccino drinks for purchase.
With the current Cub Scout program, Bears, Webelos, and Arrow of Light scouts must earn their knife skill adventure before they can use their pocket knives or purchase them from our trading post. Only after completion of the knife safety adventure at camp will the Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light scouts be able to use or purchase knives.

Yes! We recommend that you bring the mail with you (to avoid mail delays) and we will be happy to deliver the mail during meals or your unit may delivery how you wish.
We do have wildlife at camp such as deer, raccoons, squirrels, etc that usually avoid camp during the summer but you may see them in the quiet times of the day. We recommend that you do not leave food (including snacks) inside of your tent.
We do have some mosquitoes and if it is a concern for you, please bring your choice of repellent.
We do not have leeches in the lake.
