Unit Growth Incentive Program

Membership growth is a year-round effort. The Unit Growth Incentive Program is designed to help units plan for recruitment, receive support, and earn incentives as they grow at a pace that works for them.

Units set their own recruitment goals, access planning resources, and progress along the Unit Growth Trail by meeting those goals throughout the year.

How the Program Works
  1. Set & Submit a Goal
Units complete a Unit Membership Goal Sheet and submit it to council to qualify for incentives on the Unit Growth Trail.
  2. Use Available Resources
Units can explore recruitment ideas, tools, and best practices to support their plan.
  3. Get Support
Units may request a support meeting with district/council staff to talk through goals, ideas, and challenges.
  4. Meet the Goal, Earn Incentives
When a unit meets the goal they set, they move forward on the Unit Growth Trail and earn incentives.
Unit Membership Goal Sheets

Goal sheets help units set clear, realistic recruitment goals and are required to participate in the incentive program.

✔ Used to define your unit’s recruitment goal
✔ Helps council provide better support
✔ Must be submitted to council to qualify for incentives

Goal sheets may be reviewed and submitted:

  • During a Unit Growth Trail support meeting, or

  • Directly to council staff

Recruitment Ideas

Looking for ways to expand your current recruitment efforts? We have gathered a variety of ideas to support units at every stage.

Examples include:

  • Join Nights and open houses
  • Invite-a-friend activities
  • Community events and school outreach
  • Youth-led invitations
  • Online and social media promotion
The Unit Growth Trail (Incentive Tiers)

The Unit Growth Trail is a tiered incentive pathway. Each time a unit submits and meets a recruitment goal, they move forward to the next tier.

  • Tiers are earned in order
  • Goals may be met in spring or fall
  • Units may continue progressing year over year
Tier 1 – Unit Recruitment Starter Kit

Units who earn Tier 1 receive a custom recruitment starter kit, including

  • Recruitment tote
  • Custom join-unit flyer with QR code
  • Tabletop sign holder
  • “Join Scouting – Ask Me How” buttons
  • Custom branded tablecloth

Additional tiers will be announced as they are developed.

Request a Support Meeting

Units may request a support meeting to help plan for recruitment and goal-setting. Support meetings are a great opportunity to review and submit your completed goal sheet with a staff member.

Support meetings:

  • Are collaborative and flexible
  • Typlically last about 30 minutes
  • May be held by Zoom, phone, or in-person

Meetings are available during the Spring and Fall kickoffs but support is available year-round.
