Scouting for Food is Pacific Harbors Council’s council-wide food drive bringing Scouts, families, and communities together to help neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
Throughout our communities, Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers, Sea Scouts, families, and volunteers will work together to collect nonperishable food and support local food banks and food pantries.
It is a simple way to make a big difference — and a chance for Scouts to put the Scout Oath and Scout Law into action by helping other people.
Scouting for Food takes place over two weekends.
Scouting units will visit neighborhoods throughout the Pacific Harbors Council service area and distribute Scouting for Food door hangers.
The door hangers will let residents know that Scouts will return the following Saturday to collect donations.
Residents who would like to participate can simply gather nonperishable food donations during the week and have them ready for collection.
Scouts will return to participating neighborhoods to collect donated food.
Units will then deliver the donations to designated collection locations or participating community food-bank partners.
All donations collected through Scouting for Food remain focused on helping individuals and families in our local communities.
If you receive a Scouting for Food door hanger at your home, participating is easy!
Place your donated nonperishable food items in a bag or box and leave them in a visible location near your front door on Saturday, November 14.
Please have donations outside by the collection time listed on your door hanger.

Specific requested items may vary by local food-bank partner. Check back closer to the event for our 2026 Most Needed Items list.
Every Pack, Troop, Crew, and Ship in Pacific Harbors Council is encouraged to participate!
Units can select a neighborhood or community to serve and coordinate their Scouting for Food efforts locally while participating as part of our larger council-wide service project.
Units distribute Scouting for Food door hangers in their selected neighborhood or community.
Units return to the same area, collect donated food, and deliver it to their designated collection location or participating food-bank partner.
Units should plan to provide appropriate adult supervision and follow all current Scouting America Safeguarding Youth and safety guidelines throughout the project.

Pacific Harbors Council will provide Scouting for Food door hangers to participating units while supplies last.
Door hangers will include information for residents about the food drive and space for units to provide collection information.
They will also introduce families to Scouting in their community and provide information for anyone interested in learning more about Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, or Sea Scouts.

Scouting for Food is about Scouts serving the communities where they live.
Pacific Harbors Council is working with food banks, food pantries, community organizations, and other partners throughout our council service area so donations can benefit local families.

No! Scouting for Food is a community-wide effort. Anyone can donate food and help support local families.
Shelf-stable, unopened, nonperishable foods are best. A list of requested items from participating food-bank partners will be posted before the event.
Scouting units will serve as many neighborhoods as possible, but Scouts may not be able to reach every home within the council.
A list of public donation locations will be posted here as they become available.
We want as many Scouts as possible participating in Scouting for Food. Units with scheduling challenges should contact Pacific Harbors Council to discuss options for participating while still supporting the council-wide effort.

Absolutely. Businesses, schools, faith communities, civic organizations, and other community partners can support Scouting for Food by hosting collection locations, promoting the drive, donating food, or partnering with local Scouting units.
